Jones began her track and field career in 2005 after she graduated from university. In 2005 she was winning the Torino Memorial race, in 2006 she was one of the Heusden and Ostrava racers.

Brandt was raised and born in Cape Town, South Africa. Her family moved from Cape Town to Auckland New Zealand with her family during her late teens. Brandt was found by casting directors in her home town and was cast in the part of Naevia for the Starz hit Spartacus Blood and Sand and Spartacus Gods of the Arena. She was one of the breakout stars for this series, working with Steven S. D Knight & Sam Raimi. Lesley Brandt along with the other members of her family moved into Auckland New Zealand, in 1999. In Auckland Brandt was initially an employee in the retail sector, and later was upgraded to IT Management Consultant.
